In general, mesotherapy is the technique applied to the face and body in order to place some substances in the upper layers of the skin or deeper.

Depending on the ingredients used, it naturally has a different effect. Specifically for the body, we have injectable mesotherapy treatments for hydration, firming, cellulite treatment and lipolysis. These are the best known to the general public and the most frequently used in aesthetic plastic surgery.

Hydration-tightening: The injectable mesotherapy of hydration and tightening for the body concerns areas such as the décolleté, the inner surface of the arms, the buttocks and the inner surface of the thighs, as well as the knees. It is these areas that often show epidermal sagging and small wrinkles, which are due to age, dehydration and the lack of collagen in the basic layers of the skin.

With the injectable mesotherapy in the specific positions, we replenish the missing moisture, and “cheat” the skin. The main ingredients used are Hyaluronic acid, vitamins and DMAE for firming. They usually need from 10-20 sessions (depending on the severity and extent of the problem) that take place every week.

This mesotherapy is combined with special body tightening masks that have a complementary effect. In addition to heterologous mesotherapy, autologous mesotherapy (TRAY LIFE) which uses the growth factors present in the patient’s own blood in order to reconstruct the skin, has good results in these areas.

Cellulitis: Injectable mesotherapy for cellulite contains substances such as caffeine, theophylline, carnitine and artichoke extract that are proven to improve the appearance and texture of the skin. It is combined with local fat-dissolving substances such as lecithin for better results. Naturally irreplaceable for the treatment of cellulite is the Endermologie treatment, which has proven after years of experience that there is no better method for this problem. Combination treatments are often offered at our practice for the most complete possible treatment of the problem.

Lipolysis: A separate substance that can be used either alone, or in solution with the other substances mentioned above, is soy lecithin (Lipostabil). It has been several years that, based on the experience of plastic surgeons from Brazil, soy lecithin has entered the quiver of cosmetic surgery to deal with the accumulation of fat under the skin. It is indicated in areas with small and moderate accumulation of fat, for example, in the lower abdomen, on the knees and on the jaw. Although it will not eliminate the large localized fat that needs liposuction, the areas treated with lecithin injections have a clear improvement in points and appearance as well as an improvement in superficial cellulite. The lecithin treatment protocol includes 4-5 sessions in each area with an interval of 4 weeks between them. Contraindicated in patients with soy allergy.

Mesotherapy is done with very fine needles, after applying an anesthetic cream and depending on the indication and the ingredients used at different depths in the skin. After the treatment there is mild redness and rarely small bruises at the injection sites which subside after a few hours. In particular, with lecithin, a slight swelling in the tissues and a mild feeling of heat may occur for 1-2 days.

With your doctor you will create a program that will meet the special needs of each area so that you get the best possible result. Although injectable body mesotherapy to treat skin dehydration, sagging and cellulite is relatively time-consuming, the results are truly worth it.
