To date, the classic methods in anti-aging and non-surgical facial reconstruction include Botox, hyaluronic acid treatments either as fillers or as merotherapy and radio frequencies or lasers. None of these methods has until now been able to satisfactorily and over time deal with the sagging and drooping of the lower half of the face and contour. Also one of the most difficult areas to deal with sagging and thinning skin is the neck.
Now comes a new method which works either in combination or individually and it tackles this very problem with great success. Using very fine absorbable multifilament and monofilament threads that are placed subcutaneously with the help of a very fine needle-guide, and by effectively closing a subcutaneous mesh, the face is lifted and the sagging observed on the sides of the mouth and along the jaw is corrected. At the same time, the production of collagen is stimulated along the direction where the threads have been placed, resulting in the lifting of sagging tissues. They also delay the signs of aging in the skin through the process of skin healing, neovascularization and the increase of elastin and collagen.
In the neck area, a reduction of vertical wrinkles and sagging is observed in a short period of time with a visible improvement in the quality of the skin and subcutaneous tissues.
The threads are made of polydioxanone and polyglycolic acid, materials used in surgery for the production of absorbable sutures, perfectly compatible with the human body without causing allergic or other adverse effects. Their absorption time is from 70-90 days and throughout this time they act by increasing the production and reconstruction of collagen and elastin resulting in tightening and visible lifting of the tissues that continues for a long time after their absorption. They do not present any of the complications that the permanent nylon threads that we used in the past presented.
The treatment is done in the doctor’s office with the use of anesthetic cream, it is quick and painless. The result in the 3D shape of the face is visible immediately and improves over time. Rarely, exudation and small swellings occur depending on the severity and duration with other treatments such as Botox and hyaluronic acid filling. There are no scars. It has a long-lasting effect and can be repeated whenever necessary, usually after 18-24 months. It combines perfectly with all other anti-aging treatments such as laser, radio frequencies and peeling and enhances their effect so that we have a beautiful youthful appearance.
In addition to the face, the treatment can also be applied to other parts of the body such as knees and inner surface of arms and thighs for tightening and lifting.
